AI Configuration

The AI company that generates chat answers. Each provider requires its own API key and charges per usage.
Get this from platform.openai.com → API keys. Starts with "sk-". This is your billing key — keep it secret.
Recommended: gpt-4o-mini (cheapest, fast, good quality). Premium: gpt-4o (smarter but 10x more expensive per question).
Converts your documents into searchable format. text-embedding-3-small is cheapest ($0.02/million tokens). text-embedding-3-large is more accurate but 6x more expensive. Only change this if you know what you're doing — changing requires re-embedding all documents.
Low = factual. High = creative. Keep at 0.1 for document Q&A.
Document sections sent per question. More = better answers but higher cost.
Lower = more results. Higher = stricter matching. 0.7 recommended.
Shows answers word-by-word. No cost difference.

System Prompt

The system prompt is an instruction that tells the AI how to behave. It controls whether the AI sticks to your documents, how it formats answers, how it handles conflicts between sources, and whether it includes citations. Do not remove the core instruction about answering only from document context unless you want the AI to use general knowledge.

Getting Started

DocuChat AI answers your questions using information from uploaded knowledge documents (SOPs, guidelines, processing updates). It only answers from what's in the documents — it won't guess or use outside knowledge.

  • Type your question in the text box at the bottom and press Enter or click Send.
  • The AI will respond with an answer and show which documents it used as sources below the answer.
  • If the bot can't find the answer, it will tell you. Try rephrasing your question or contact your admin to check if the relevant document is uploaded.

Chat Features

  • New Chat: Click "+ New" in the sidebar (desktop) or use the hamburger menu (mobile). Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+O (Windows) / ⌘⇧O (Mac).
  • Pin Chats: Click the pin icon to keep important conversations at the top of your list.
  • Delete Chats: Click the trash icon to remove a conversation.
  • Clear All: Click "Clear" to remove all your conversations.
  • Copy: Hover over an AI response and click "Copy" to copy the text.
  • Regenerate: Hover over an AI response and click "Regenerate" to get a fresh answer.
  • Suggested Prompts: On a new chat, click any suggested prompt card to pre-fill it in the text box. Edit if needed, then hit Send.
  • Auto-limit: Up to 20 conversations are kept. Oldest unpinned ones are removed automatically.

Tips for Better Answers

  • Be specific. "What is the draw process for UWM?" works better than "tell me about draws."
  • Mention the lender name if your question is lender-specific.
  • If the answer seems outdated, ask "What is the latest update on [topic]?"
  • If the bot says it can't find the information, the relevant document may not be uploaded yet — let your admin know.

Change Password

Click the "Password" button in the top header (desktop) or in the hamburger menu (mobile). Enter your current password, then your new password twice.

Mobile Access

  • Use the hamburger menu (≡) on the top-right to access conversations and navigation.
  • All features work on mobile — chat, pin, clear, change password.
